What I Want Out of 2021

We made it, somehow through everything the world threw at us in 2020, if you're reading this, we made it to 2021. Now, what do we do with that opportunity?

I like to think of every year as an opportunity to improve somehow.

I even think that in some regards, I improved in 2020. I removed a lot of toxicity from my life, I learned a lot about who I am when I'm not working or able to travel, and I learned that I really miss making things and being creative.

In 2021, I want to continue to improve. But I also hope that with new leadership and a fresh start, that the world improves as well. I'm an optimist at heart, so sue me.

So in a list (because your girl loves a good list) here's what I want:

1. I want to make more. I want to write, craft, dance, sing, express, post etc

2. I want to use the internet for the platform it could be for me.

3. I want to get my health in order. Diagnoses, medication regimen, understanding, empathy, belief

4. I should probably exercise more. I aim to dance, do yoga, walk and condition

5. I want to read more quantitatively and I want to read more diversely

6. I want to embrace myself, my interests, my passions, my personality, my body and my brain

7. I want to just make it better, no matter the circumstances

8. I want to make the world just a little bit better with whatever it is that I can contribute.

I seek to educate with kindness, but occasionally bluntness. I know lots of you do as well, let's keep that going! No need to sugar coat! There's a long road ahead for a lot of the issues we care the most about; bring that activist energy from 2020 into 2021, don't let it have been performative!

This year, 2021, let's focus on improvement. We have survived A LOT this year. Let's make the most of the year ahead and help the world be a little bit better for us being in it. Be kind to the planet, be kind to yourself and be kind to other people.

Let's kick ass in 2021!

xoxo Miss Hobby Hopper
